Clermont-Ferrand, 4 May 2020 – (FR0004177046 METEX), a cleantech biochemical company that develops and industrialises competitive and sustainable fermentation processes offering alternatives to petrochemistry for the production and marketing of functional ingredients, informs its shareholders of the gradual resumption of activities at its facility in Auvergne and at the METEX NØØVISTA plant construction site.
As previously announced, in accordance with the hygiene and containment measures required in response to the COVID-19 health crisis, on 17 March 2020 METabolic EXplorer implemented a minimum business continuity plan prioritising teleworking and limiting activities requiring a presence at the site to those necessary to maintain the company’s tangible and intangible strategic assets and to support METEX NØØVISTA.
To allow activities at the Saint-Beauzire site, and in particular R&D and the demonstrator, to gradually resume while ensuring the health and safety of its personnel, METEX has worked with the company works council to identify risks in each department. Several organizational adjustments, which have been approved by occupational health services, have accordingly been made. These may evolve in the future depending on the measures required to manage this health crisis. These adjustments have enabled the Group to prioritise the health and safety of personnel while proceeding since 9 April with the necessary resumption of activities by 75% to 100% of its employees, depending on the department.
In parallel, the Group has taken steps to implement measures that will allow a gradual resumption under optimal conditions of all construction work on the METEX NØØVISTA plant. Construction initially continued with small teams of workers. Since 20 and 27 April, several companies have gradually gone back to work at the site, in particular on the civil engineering aspects of the project. An update of the construction schedule is in preparation.
Benjamin Gonzalez, Chairman and CEO of METabolic EXplorer, says: “To minimise the economic impact of this health crisis on our development plans, we are taking steps to resume our activities under conditions that will provide our employees with optimal protection. I would like to point out the tremendous adaptability our teams have shown, which has enabled us to set up this organisation and thus respond to the challenges we must face today and in the future, when this crisis ends.”
At this stage, the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the Group’s activities and the outlook for 2020 has not yet been quantified.
