Clermont-Ferrand, 2 May 2018 (FR0004177046 METEX), METabolic EXplorer (METEX), an industrial biochemistry company specializing in the development and marketing of industrial fermentation processes for a sustainable chemical production has provided an update on the construction and operation of their 1,3-propanediol (PDO) and butyric acid (BA) plant.

Regarding its plan to build a production plant on the chemicals platform of Carling Saint-Avold in Moselle, METabolic EXplorer announces that it has received the certificate of submission and completeness for its environmental permit application and the certificate of submission for the construction permits applications.

The environmental permit application was submitted to the prefecture of Moselle, and will primarily be reviewed by the Regional Directorate for Environment, Planning and Housing (DREAL) of the Grand-Est region. The submitted application includes:

– a descriptive outline of the site, including the operating principles of the plant, all final products and effluents generated, as well as the raw materials and utilities implemented, and

– the environmental impact assessments and hazard studies which are legally required, allowing to analyse all risks and hazards to the environment generated by the plant, and to ensure that these are monitored and managed.

In parallel, the construction permits application for this future plan, including plans for the administration, production and utilities buildings, needed for the plant’s operations, were submitted to the City offices of St-Avold and L’Hôpital townships.

Benjamin Gonzalez stated: ‘The METEX project is progressing in line with the objectives of the time schedule issued in the 1st quarter of 2017. A last milestone is expected at the end of June, when the total investment required should be confirmed, as well as the aid package, estimated at around €15m from public and private stakeholders, which will be allocated to this project. If everything goes to plan, construction of the plant should begin during the last quarter of 2018.’
